Each small "cut" of single thread is colored in different color. When you embroider the right design with multicolored thread, the effect can be absolutely stunning. Even a most boring single-color design embroidered in variegated thread, may turn out absolutely stunning. Another great use for multicolored thread is quilting - for freehand decorating of quilt blocks or even ready quilts.
